I hold a PhD in Screen Studies from the Drama Department at The University of Manchester in the UK. My thesis explored how queer Marxism and affect theory can be in dialogue to engender further conversations around queer screen representations in contemporary PRC. The project was supervised by Dr Darren Waldorn and Dr Felicia Chan, with the support of Prof. Jackie Stacey as an independent reviewer. Before my time in the UK, I was trained as an art historian at Queen’s University (Canada) and OCAD University.

As an educator, I have recently supported undergraduate modules such as Art in Theory, European Field Trip, The Art of Film, World Cinema, and Digital Art (hybrid with postgraduate cohort) at Manchester in varying capacities. Before that, I taught at OCAD University in Toronto. As a filmmaker, my co-produced documentary has been featured at the Beijing Queer Film Festival.
